Today's fun project

Made with lots of little squares that had been given to me. It is for a new baby girl. I had fun!

you made that in one day and did all the other stuff that needed to be done? Please tell me that you didn't. If you did you really are wonderwoman.

hey, I have been cutting 5 inch squares to make my first quilt and I was wondering if you had a system for how you sew them together. Do you do them in groups or do you just sew a line at a time? I am so new at this and I would really like to get into it a little more. My quilt from your mom is still one of my favorite blankets in the house. I don't know what I am so nervous about in this quilting thing. Do you maybe have a good "starter" quilt pattern for me to start with?... sorry this is a lot of questions. Thanks for your help.

ps.. the quilt is beautiful! How did you make the flower in the middle... it is so cute!

You Angies! I am not wonderwoman! The squares were pretty much all cut out. I was using a variety of ones that had been given to me. Also I did start sewing some of the rows together the day before. Also it is a baby quilt so it is not that big.

Miranda, I usually sew the squares into rows and then sew the rows together. First I lay everything out on the floor though to make sure I have it looking the way I want it to. For the flower in the middle I did applique. For a starter quilt I recommend squares (big is good) and just do it! Don't worry if everything isn't exactly in line. It gets easier with time.

This is lovely! Thanks, Miranda, for asking all the questions that were spinning through my head, lol.
How did you lean to sew and quilt? None of my friends sew and I would love to learn, but I'm hesitant to take classes at one of the stores.
What a lucky little baby!!

My mom taught me to sew. As far as quilting we did some basic stuff growing up and then I just kept doing it and expermenting. Don't be afraid to try!

Thanks Abbi - I guess I should just jump right in and try it some day. If nothing else we'll have some stadium blankets, lol!
