If any of you lacks wisdom....

I have started reading through the book of James in my morning quiet time (you can read more about my methods here) and I really love that book! There is so much in it that is practical for my every day! When I am doing my reading in the morning I go through one book at a time (but not the Bible in order, I usually go back and forth from Old Testament to New Testament) and I read slowly and write down things in my journal that I feel apply to me and I need to learn from.
A few of the verses from this morning are verses that I have read over and over and even memorized but they speak to me every time! They say:
"But if any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all men generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him. But let him ask in faith without any doubting, for the one who doubts is like the surf of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. For let not that man expect that he will receive anything from the Lord, being a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways." James 1:5-8

This past week there were quite a few times that I felt I was seriously lacking wisdom, and it is so nice to know that I have a Friend and Father that is the Author of Wisdom. There is nothing He doesn't know and no problem to hard for Him. He has also offered to give us wisdom which we so desperately need. Thank you God for that promise!!
I appreciate the reminder to ask in faith without doubting. With God we don't need to say "IF you can..." He can! We just need to remember to say "if it is Your will." (1 John 5:14)
I think the best parenting advice and the best marriage advice is James 1:5. So many times we need wisdom, and we have a place we can go for that!
